- Approximately 40 yards of smooth worsted- or aran-weight yarn
- One 4.5–6 mm crochet hook
Your hook may be:
- A long, straight Tunisian crochet hook
- A Tunisian crochet hook with an attached cable
- A traditional crochet hook with a smooth handle and no rubber grip
Choose a smooth, light-colored yarn that makes it easy to see your stitches. Please arrive with your yarn wound and ready to crochet.
Discover the creative possibilities of Tunisian crochet. A fun and approachable technique that’s easy for beginners to explore while still offering something fresh and interesting for experienced crocheters.
Unlike traditional crochet, Tunisian crochet uses two passes to create each row. You’ll pick up and hold stitches on your hook during the forward pass, then work them off during the return pass. The result is a beautifully soft, squishy fabric with seemingly endless possibilities for texture, colorwork, and lace.
During this introductory class, you’ll learn how to hold and use a Tunisian crochet hook, complete the forward and return passes, and create the foundational stitches needed to continue exploring this versatile technique.
