Stitch & Revel Crafts for a Cause 💗 Knitted Knockers

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Stitch & Revel is getting involved, one stitch at a time!

Throughout October and beyond we’ll be making Knitted Knockers to donate to patients at Eden Radiation Oncology at Sutter Health in Castro Valley.

Knitted Knockers are soft, handmade breast prostheses designed to provide a comfortable alternative to traditional prostheses for women who have had a mastectomy or other breast surgery. Every one we make is a small act of kindness and together, we can make a meaningful difference.

🧶 Come Stitch With Us!

If you can knit or crochet in the round, we’d love to have you join us! And if you’re not a fiber crafter, you can still be part of the team. There are plenty of ways to help, including filling, measuring, and packaging the finished Knitted Knockers.

Info Session, Orientation & Maker Tutorials

Come learn about Knitted Knockers what they are, why we make them, and how our handmade creations will support patients at Eden Radiation Oncology.

After a brief orientation, we’ll offer tutorials on knitting and crocheting Knitted Knockers. If you plan to stay for the tutorials, please bring:

• G (4.5 mm) crochet hook or size 4 or 5 knitting needles

• 1 skein of sport- or DK-weight yarn from the approved yarn list

Getting Knitted Knockers Ready for Delivery

This session no knitting or crochet experience is needed. Just your eagerness to help!  We already have Knitted Knockers waiting to be finished. They just need a little team effort to get them ready for delivery to Eden Radiation Oncology. We’ll fill, measure, and package the Knitted Knockers so they’re ready to go. 

We’ll provide the poly filling, care cards, size tags, and packaging.

We’ll gather the Knitted Knockers made by Stitch & Revel volunteers throughout the month and work together to fill, measure, and package them for delivery to Eden Radiation Oncology before the end of October.

Everyone is welcome! Knitters, crocheters, and non-fiber crafters alike!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month may end in October, but our Knitted Knocker projects won’t!

After October, we’ll host Knitted Knocker make-alongs every few weeks, helping us maintain a continuing supply for patients at Eden Radiation Oncology.
