Drop Spindle Workshop
The history of making yarns is a long one, and while styles have evolved, the basic approach remains the same. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to use a drop spindle to create your own yarn and discover what gives yarn its structure. We’ll explore fibers, drafting, twist, and plying. Helping you understand why some yarns become favorites and what makes others more challenging to work with.
Class Materials Provided:
- Drop spindle
- Three types of roving from three different sheep breeds
What You’ll Leave With:
- Your own drop spindle
- Your newly spun yarn (historically, students complete 6–36 yards of a two-ply yarn)
Perfect for curious beginners and fiber lovers ready to explore spinning.
