Yarn Shop Team Member (Part-Time)
Stitch & Revel is a cozy, community-rooted yarn shop in Livermore. We’re looking for a friendly, dependable team member with advanced to intermediate-level knitting skills to support all customers on the sales floor. Helping makers and shoppers of all experience levels find the right yarns, tools, and supplies for their projects, gifts, and creative goals.

- Pay: $16.50–$18.00/hour (based on experience)

Role Overview
This role is ideal for an advanced to intermediate knitter who enjoys helping others feel confident and inspired. You’ll guide all customers through yarn and tool selection, suggest patterns and project ideas, offer thoughtful substitutions, and assist with basic troubleshooting. While knitting knowledge is essential, your focus will be supporting all customers- knitters, crocheters, needle crafts makers, beginners, and gift shoppers alike through warm, knowledgeable service and smart recommendations that lead to successful projects and a great in-shop experience.
What You'll Do
- Greet customers warmly and help create a welcoming, inclusive shop environment
- Help customers select yarns, tools, and notions for their projects
- Match patterns with appropriate yarns and suggest patterns that suit specific yarns
- Offer yarn substitution guidance (fiber content, weight, gauge, yardage)
- Share knitting knowledge and help with basic project troubleshooting
- Guide customers based on skill level, project goals, budget, and fiber preferences
- Wind yarn and support general shop tasks
- Operate POS for sales and returns
- Restock, tidy, and keep displays inspiring
- Capture occasional in-shop moments/product photos for social + email
What we’re looking for
- Intermediate-to-advanced knitting skills (patterns, techniques, yarn substitution, fiber choices)
- Friendly, patient communication style; genuinely enjoys helping customers
- Comfortable learning/using a POS system
- Weekend availability required
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs and stay on your feet during shifts
- Crochet experience welcome (not required)
Bonus points
- Retail/customer service experience
- Social content experience (Instagram posts/stories/reels, product photos, in-shop moments)
- Canva experience for small business marketing
- Crochet experience
- Interest in assisting with/teaching classes in the future
- Other needle crafts (embroidery, cross-stitch, needlepoint, etc.)
- Familiarity with yarn brands/fibers + basic garment construction
