Brioche Workshop (Intro to 2 color brioche)

The world of Brioche Knitting is enticingly full of intricate-looking texture, color-work, cables, etc. Yet, it can be a bit intimidating while starting out and the terminology can look unfriendly. This 4hr workshop introduces the foundational skills for brioche. 

Skills required to take this class:

Knit, Purl, Slip, yarnover, k2tog, p2tog. Being able to read one’s knitting helps to a great extent. 

What you'll learn: We will start the class by knitting a small swatch. While at it, we will learn:

1. Reading brioche patterns and getting familiar with brioche abbreviations and terminology.
2. How to execute basic brioche stitches - Sl1yo, brk, brp.
3. Reading your brioche knitting: Understand the anatomy of brioche fabric and stitches, selvedge stitches, counting stitches and rows, and knowing your place in the project. 
4. Fixing the most common brioche mistakes: Same-row tinking and dropped yarnovers in previous rows will be demonstrated.

Materials for class:

• Small quantities of worsted weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors for swatching. (approx 25g each) 
• Strong contrast between the two colors is encouraged so you can easily read and understand your stitches (to make sure there is enough contrast, take a picture of your skeins and convert it to grayscale. One color should appear much lighter than the other in the picture).
• US 6 / 4mm or US 4 / 3.5mm 16" circular needles or dpns
• Stitch markers
• Crochet hook 3.5 or 4 mm or a fix it tool.

Everything needed for class is available for purchase at the shop.

• Materials are not included. Come by Stitch & Revel ahead of time, we’ll help you choose yarn colors and tools.

• Prep: Please have your yarn wound at least before class day so we can jump right in.
• Class Policies: At Stitch & Revel, our classes are designed to be joyful, creative, and welcoming. We want to make sure every student has the best experience possible. Seats are reserved on a first-come basis once payment is received, and classes require at least 3 students to run. If we need to cancel due to low enrollment, we’ll notify you at least 24 hours in advance and provide a full refund.
• Student Responsibility: If you need to cancel, please do so at least 7 days before class for a full refund. Cancellations made 3–6 days prior are eligible for a partial refund, and cancellations less than 3 days before class are non-refundable. It is the student’s responsibility to arrive at least 5 minutes early so class can begin promptly.
• All materials must be ready to go the day of class. Yarn must be purchased and wound no later than the day before class. We are not able to wind yarn right before class begins. Registered students receive a 10% discount on class materials, and we recommend purchasing everything in advance to ensure you’re fully prepared.

Please note, missed classes cannot be made up or credited. If you are taking a multi-session course and know you’ll miss a date, kindly let your instructor know.
