Crochet Cowl: Your Next Stitch

Just finished Learn to Crochet? Picking up your hook again after some time away? This cozy project is a fun next step in your crochet journey.

In class, we’ll focus on half double crochet in the back loop only. It’s one of my favorite stitches because it creates such a beautiful ribbed look! As you get comfortable with the technique, you can choose from two cowl styles, add buttons for a personal touch, or use the same stitch to make a hat.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner / Advanced Beginner
You should know how to chain, single crochet, half double crochet, and count stitches.

Materials

Our shop sample was made with one skein of Malabrigo Vientos and an 8 mm crochet hook. This is our recommended combination for the cowl.

You can also choose from other yarns at Stitch & Revel, including Malabrigo Rios, Juniper Moon Cotton Chic, Cascade 220, and Uptown Worsted. These yarns may need a different hook size or amount of yarn than the sample. We’re happy to help you choose the right supplies for the version you’d like to make.

Purchasing Materials for Class: Everything needed for class is available for purchase at the shop.Please come to class with all your materials ready to go. If your yarn needs winding, please purchase it and have it wound no later than the day before class, as we won’t be able to wind yarn right before class begins.

Class Policies:  At Stitch & Revel, our classes are designed to be joyful, creative, and welcoming. We want to make sure every student has the best experience possible. Seats are reserved on a first-come basis once payment is received, and classes require at least 3 students to run. If we need to cancel due to low enrollment, we’ll notify you at least 24 hours in advance and provide a full refund.

Student Responsibility: If you need to cancel, please do so at least 7 days before class for a full refund. Cancellations made 3-6 days prior are eligible for a partial refund, and cancellations less than 3 days before class are non-refundable. It is the student’s responsibility to arrive at least 5 minutes early so class can begin promptly. Please note, missed classes cannot be made up or credited. If you are taking a multi-session course and know you’ll miss a date, kindly let your instructor know.
